Use of Force

Today's liberal outrage is against the bill signed by governor John Ellis Bush permitting, yes permitting, citizens to use force against anyone threatening to do you harm. How can this be a problem? Our basic constitutional right, indeed our inalienable right, is to defend our life, liberty and property. And government does not permit us, we permit the government, but that's another rant.

Should we really be expected to flee from a potential agressor trying to hurt us or steal from us or do harm to our children or someone we love? NO! We should vehemently attack the attacker! Turn the other cheek is a nice sounding phrase but it DOESN'T work. Criminals will always try to do criminal things and making it easier for them by turning away rather than trying to stop them will not help. Criminals do not, by definition, obey the law.

I applaud the Florida legislature and other states, like Texas, that allow citizens to carry concealed handguns. Criminals do not play on a level playing field. Allow people to protect themselves without fear of government retaliation and the criminal problem will lessen. It has been proven everywhere this belief occurs.

Deny people the basic right to protect themselves and crime will increase. The old, tired bumper sticker, "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" is so prophetic. If criminals know the average citizen is not allowed to arm himself he fears no retaliation for whatever harmful intent he has. If the criminal is unsure if a person he proposes to harm is carrying a weapon, he will be far less likely to commit his crime in the first place. Isn't this the outcome we really want?

Government does not exist to protect everyone from everything. We are responsible for protecting ourselves as well. The best source for fixing a problem is closest to the problem, not buried in layers of government bureaucracy after the fact. Take control of your own life and protect yourself. Don't wait for the government.

Pooh on the liberal philosophy!!!

That's my 2 cents.
